At the same time I ran across this article from the New York Times, As Boom Lures App Creators, Tough Part Is Making a Living. The gist of the article is that making on your own in the app store is hard. This article contains some heartbreaking stories like the Grimeses couple:
Contus is a SMAC company located at Chennai, in India developing mobile apps on trending technologies like Wearables, IoT, Augmented reality, Beacons, BLE 4.0. The music revelation that is Spotify, now available as an App. Spotify allows you to play music streamed from the internet for free, and save them to playlists. Not every band can be found on it but it’s collection is pretty extensive.
Find your niche: You might imagine the vast riches you could earn by making the next “World of Warcraft” for mobile devices. But if you’re not Activision or Hasbro, or even just someone creative enough to have designed an engaging game in the past, this probably is not your niche. Think of what you’re passionate about and how your iPhone might help you track or share that passion.
I saw your story on Hacker News. I found your human-centered-design process and the resulting app to be very inspiring, and a testament to the power of applying human centered and user centered design principles to a real problem.
Unifying the apps could help the iOS and macOS platforms “evolve and grow as one, and not one at the expense of the other,” says Steven Troughton-Smith, an app developer and longtime voice in the Apple community. “This would be the biggest change to Apple’s software platform since iOS was introduced.”
Great programming blog run by an iOS, Mac and Ruby on Rails developer. How to create a CocoaPod, to read QR codes, how to write effective Objective-C 2.0 and more. A lot of practical, real-life examples.
You’ll also need a copy of Mac OS X. You can buy it online from the Apple Store or get it from someone who already owns a Mac computer. The exact installation steps will depend on your setup and software. Follow this VirtualBox tutorial to begin.
Give the button a property. Buttons can be configured to have specific properties that make them easy to adapt to the circumstance. For example, if you are creating a to-do list, you’ll want an “Add” button to create a new entry. Select the button, and open the Attribute Inspector. Find the Identifier menu and choose “Add”. The button will change to a “+” logo.
We designed Swift to be easy to use. It lets you see what you’re creating with code as you write it. Type your code on the left and immediately see the result on the right. It uses lots of words and phrases you already know, like “print,” “add,” and “remove.” And Swift is not just great for getting started with code — it’s also super powerful. In fact, some of the world’s most popular apps are created in Swift.

Have a unique idea for an app? There are, as you probably know, a trillion (OK, may not a TRILLION) apps out there. So what makes an app stand out? Why would anyone want to use your app? Why would they pay money for it if you are going to charge?
Download some test apps. Once you’ve signed up for a Developer account, you will have access to Apple’s development resources. These resources include a variety of sample projects which can give you a tremendous amount of insight into how app development works. Find an example that is related to the kind of app you want to create and mess around with it in Xcode.
App Store, which made some independent developers rich. For example, independent developer Steve Demeter announced earning $250,000 in just two months with his game Trism. And Ethan Nicholas, developer of the iPhone game iShoot, raked in $600,000 in a single month with sales of his app.
I just got the new iPad and I do not know how to sync the apps from my iPhone to my iPad. I tried connecting my new iPad to my computer and syncing it to iTunes to see if it would automatically sync it up with everything from my iPhone but all it did was sync the music. Also I do not have the cellular part hooked up to my new iPad and I still have to go to the Verizon store to have them activate it, so I’m wondering if after they activate it that all my apps and info from my iPhone will sync or transfer to my iPad but I’m not sure. What do I Need to do in order to sync up my iPhone and IPad?
Since all the tutorials are free, why do I need to get the book? This is one of the common questions from our readers. Our Swift books are not the same as the free tutorials. Like any technology, Swift will continue to evolve. Thus, change is inevitable. Once you purchase the book, you will get free book updates for one year. We will make sure the content and the source code are compatible with latest version of iOS and Xcode. The books are also available in multiple formats including PDF, ePub and HTML. So you can read it on your favorite device. On top of that, you will get access to our private Facebook group to interact with other learners.

A few things make the transition easier. Before you even start, go nuts with cloud storage—Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, whatever. Keep everything there, and stop worrying about which device things are on because everything is everywhere. Master the iPad’s keyboard shortcuts (long-press the Command key in any app to see them), so you can do more without even moving your hands. Install an automator app like Workflow, so that you don’t have to do all the repetitive copy-and-pasting paperwork an app can do for you. Download Launcher, and put your essential contacts and apps right there in the notification pulldown. The most common knock on the iPad-as-computer idea is that the tablet makes it too hard to use a few apps at once and move things around. With a little elbow grease, you can speed things way up.
Concurrency is dividing up the execution paths of your program so that they are possibly running at the same time. Apple has high level APIs to achieve concurrency like Grand Central Dispatch and operation queues.
While it isn’t possible to directly write code that runs on the iPad, you certainly can write code on the device itself. There is an app available in the app store called CodeToGo that lets you author programs in quite a few different languages. When you want to run your program, the code is actually uploaded to a server, executed there, and the results of that run are returned to you. This, or a similar program, is the closest you will currently get to writing code on the iPad (or iPhone).
This is a simple tip but I find it extremely helpful. We have a tendency to search through our Home screens and folders looking for apps. But that can be time consuming, especially if you have a lot of apps that you’ve strategically hidden deep inside a folder. So long as an app is downloaded on your iPhone, you can use Spotlight search to quickly find a hidden app on your iPhone.

iPad is a notch above the iPhone when it comes to user experience. It is true that iPhone apps can be used on iPad and vice versa but it is the functionality and intuitive ability of the application that makes the difference while running. Applications on iPad are all about style and the interface it comes with.

As I understand dakira’s question, he is asking if he can make an app for iPad on an iPad itself. Apple does not allow apps that run / execute code (virtual machines) into the app store (unless they use an officially provided API). This means no emulators, IDE’s, etc are allowed into the app store. – Nathan Anderson Jan 29 ’11 at 18:39
On multitasking phones like the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, you can make it so your application doesn’t quit when the user presses the Home button. Instead, the app just goes into the background and reappears just as it was with a tap on its icon. You can give your app multitasking powers without writing a single line of code!
